UPDATE: APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED. If you have been selected for an interview, you will have received an email by now. If you didn’t, thank you so much for applying and for your interest. I’m sorry if I can’t reply to each one of you, I got a ton of applications. All the best to you!
I’m looking for a Design Assistant/intern! This will be a 3-month paid Internship + Mentorship program (done virtually / online). With all this pandemic-related economic uncertainty, I thought now might be a good time to reach out and offer this program to someone who is looking to make this time count towards building a rewarding future for themselves in pattern design and art licensing. If you have the time and space to invest in building your business, have a passion for pattern and the desire to carve your own path in the licensing world, I’d love to hear from you! Read below.
Here’s the deal:
You will be paid a rate of $150CAD for 8-10 hours of work per week, plus I will offer you a weekly 1-hour mentorship session (value of $150) to help you build your brand / business.
Please note: I am looking for someone who is set up as a freelancer and can invoice me through their own business. My business is in Canada, I live in Lisbon, and I’m open to working with anyone around the world (provided we can communicate in english). Sorry I’m not set up to offer healthcare or benefits at this time!
What I’m asking for:
8-10 hours of dedicated work per week (ideally over 1 or 2 days but this is flexible) approached with zest
Requirements:
Must have strong knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
Would be nice if you had knowledge of InDesign, After Effects, Google platforms but not essential
Your own computer and software
An energetic, curious spirit
An eagerness and desire to learn and grow
A humble but passionate attitude
A great eye for colour and pattern (and knowledge of how to make a pattern in Illustrator)
A portfolio focused around illustration / pattern design
Good communication skills
The ability to manage your time and self-motivate
Someone who ‘gets’ my style but has / is developing a style of their own
Someone who wants to build their own licensing business
A passion for sustainability and environmental issues
References, upon request
There are many aspects to running a licensing business… Tasks may or may not include:
Online marketing (blog posts, newsletters, social)
Creative production work, reformatting, prepping and uploading artwork for clients
Research and development
Administrative tasks
Copyright management
Portfolio management
Product photography
These are all tasks that I have done myself and are a practical part of running your own business. So if you hope to have your own licensing business, and think this would be a valuable learning experience that you’d approach with enthusiasm, I’d love to hear from you! To apply, please send me an email with your resumé by Thursday May 28th at 11.59PM EST.
I will let you know if you’ve been selected for an interview. I’ll be doing interviews in early June and we’d ideally start working together later in the month! Thanks to all for your interest, and wishing you so much warmth. Be well!
